DCS Retrofit
Automation and electrical design were performed to replace the existing control systems on a major coal-fired generating unit. This included 50 cabinets of boiler controls from ABB to Ovation, bench board and aux panel controls, annunciators, and the POWDEX system integrated into the Ovation DCS. The turbine and BFP controls were upgraded to Mark VI and selected field instruments were upgraded. The result was a successful startup, which was on time and on budget with only a handful of trips. At that time, it was the largest DCS retrofit project ever performed by the client.
